Staff Augmentation (SA) is still a niche area in India. The constant challenge here is interaction with employees who are working at client site. HR in SA domain is very different as your employees are working at various locations under the direct charge of different clients, with their own set of policies. The most important aspect that attracts these employees to remain dedicated to the parent company is ERM (Employer Relationship Management). We at SDIL have ERM cells at various locations like Delhi, Pune, Kolkata and Bangalore. These ERM personnel are constantly in touch with our employees at client location, solving all HR issues, educating and updating them as to our company policies and passing on additional information about the client, for whom they are working. This requires us to constantly keep innovating on our HR practices and polices to educate the Indian IT tech personnel, of the existence of SA as a very good opportunity to gain experience with the best of companies on the best of projects.

The gap of employees located at remote locations is also bridged by the senior management and the HR Department, organising quarterly get-togethers with the employee to get feedbacks from them. SDIL also has two major events in a year that allows all employees to interact with each other and meet the SDIL management team. It has proven to be a successful, enjoyable occasion, where-in employees share their experiences, are recognized for their performance and commitment and dance away to glory.

In the SA model, one needs to be constantly innovative and experimentative. We have innovated a very good induction plan where-in a day’s visit to the office is organised. The new employees comes to know the entire operation of the orgnaisation and also comes to know the key personnel at SDIL and then there is “ SDIL’ites Diary” which always keeps our employees attached to his/her roots.
